Recent apps gesture/button not working

We have gotten several reports about the recent apps' gesture/button not working. The app overview does not open. We have investigated the issue, and it seems to be caused by Android itself. It affects all third-party launchers.

We have gotten reports of this happening on Android 12 and 14, specifically on MagicOS and XOS.

A temporary workaround is to force-stop the system launcher.

Exactly this bug now suddenly occurs since only a few days also on Poco X7 Pro running on Android 16 with Xiaomi HyperOS 3.0.5

The initial reports date back almost a year. There was no recent update to OS or Niagara which could have caused this.

    It's really annoying.

This is a bit dumb, but I've managed to automate “fixing Niagara” by creating a tasker task that kills my default launcher (honor home in my case), changes the launcher with ADB WiFi task, kills Niagara and then sets it back. This can almost certainly be made slicker, but for now when recent apps gesture stops working I just press a shortcut to this routine.

Recent apps overview not working on Magic OS 9

The error is the one reported in

https://feedback.niagaralauncher.com/p/recent-apps-gesturebutton-not-working-2 I am opening a bug as the Recent Apps/Overview is working with the Microsoft Launcher. The issue appears as well in Lawnchair.

My apologies. On a second test, Microsoft Launcher seems to fail as well… it had not failed before when I tested it.

Facing the same problem as well, only workaround I found is to remove Niagara as the default launcher and use Honor Home and revert back to Niagara, it's a temporary fix.

Seems on some devices, for me my Fairphone 5, configuring these developer settings causes it to break.

    "Windows animation scale"
    "Transition animation scale"
    "Animator duration scale"

If you set it to 0.0 or "Animation off" the task switcher/app switcher will stop working very quickly with regular use. Setting it back to "1.0” seems to fix it. Setting it to “0.1” also seems to work through ADB commands but that option isn’t available through the menus. “0.5” is however available through the menus and does also work fine.

adb shell settings put global window_animation_scale 0.1
adb shell settings put global transition_animation_scale 0.1
adb shell settings put global animator_duration_scale 0.1

If you haven’t touched any of the settings this likely won’t work for you. But I figured it’s worth sharing.

Tombol navigasi tidak bisa dihilangkan, kalau dihilangkan (pakai gesture) malah kembali ke launcher sistem/bawaan. Ada yang mengalami hal serupa?
