You can get rid of it, it's just well hidden: long-press the clock, tap Clock style, and pick one of the first styles whose preview shows no clock. The line with date, battery and weather stays, only the time disappears. Picking a clock style is part of Niagara Pro.
If you'd rather put something else up there, the clock can also be replaced with a widget of your choice: Custom Clock.
